(hereinafter: "Rotterdam Ahoy”, "we”, "us”), established at Ahoyweg 10, 3084 BA, Rotterdam, and registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce under number 24149148, processes your personal data (hereinafter: "Personal Data”). Rotterdam Ahoy complies with the requirements imposed by laws and regulations on the processing of Personal Data, including the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (hereinafter: "GDPR”). In this Privacy Statement, we explain why and how we process your Personal Data.
- Who are we?
We are Rotterdam Ahoy: the place you associate with an experience. An experience that already begins when you view the website, enter the parking area or hang up your coat. And that only ends when you look back on and share the images of your moment at Ahoy with friends or business relations. We are 250 event professionals with a mission: to build the conditions and services that elevate your experience to the highest level. We innovate as far as possible, without losing our recognisable identity.
- What are Personal Data?
Personal Data refers to all information by which a natural person can be identified directly or indirectly. For example, first and last names, (mobile) telephone numbers, (email) addresses and a date of birth are considered Personal Data.
Personal Data relates to a natural person, the data subject (hereinafter: "Data Subject”). Activities such as collecting, storing, using, editing, consulting and transmitting Personal Data are referred to as "processing”.
When you provide your data to Rotterdam Ahoy, you agree to the conditions as set out in this Privacy Statement. Rotterdam Ahoy ensures that the processing of your Personal Data takes place in a careful and secure manner.
- How does Rotterdam Ahoy obtain Personal Data?
We collect and process your Personal Data, among other things, when you visit our website, subscribe to our newsletters, purchase admission tickets for events organised by Rotterdam Ahoy, participate as an exhibitor in activities organised by Rotterdam Ahoy, and when you visit our events and activities, or those of our clients.

*Badge scanning
When visiting a trade fair or event, you will receive a badge. This badge contains the information you provided during registration. Your badge functions as an electronic business card. This means that you may choose, but are by no means obliged, to have your badge scanned by an exhibitor, after which the exhibitor may contact you with information about their products or services. By allowing your badge to be scanned, you explicitly consent to sharing your data with the relevant exhibitor and grant the exhibitor permission to contact you.
We do not intend to collect data about website visitors under the age of 16. However, we cannot verify whether a visitor is over 16. We therefore advise parents to be involved in their children’s online activities in order to prevent the collection of data about children without parental consent.
- What is the legal basis for processing?
Rotterdam Ahoy processes Personal Data primarily on the basis of consent and/or the performance of an agreement, or a legitimate interest. Rotterdam Ahoy has a legitimate interest in processing your Personal Data through camera surveillance and image recording for commercial or security purposes. Camera surveillance aims to ensure your safety as a visitor. Upon entering Rotterdam Ahoy, visitors are informed of such processing via the House Rules www.ahoy.nl/huisreglement. - How are Personal Data secured?
We always maintain a level of security for the processing of Personal Data that, given the current state of technology, is more than sufficient to prevent unauthorised access to, modification, disclosure and/or loss of Personal Data.
- How long are Personal Data retained?
We retain your Personal Data for as long as necessary to achieve the purposes described above.
- Provision of Personal Data to third parties
In order to provide you with the best possible services and remain competitive in our sector, we share certain data internally (i.e. with other subsidiaries/affiliates within the group (Ahoy entities) and organisers of co-productions) and externally (i.e. with third parties outside Ahoy).
Service providers and other third parties:
When we engage other service providers or third parties in the context of standard business activities, it may be necessary to share your Personal Data for the performance of specific tasks or processing purposes (see section 5). To the extent that these third parties process your Personal Data, they generally do so as data processors. In such cases, Rotterdam Ahoy remains responsible for these processing activities.

When we share your Personal Data externally with third parties (i.e. outside Ahoy) in countries outside the European Economic Area (EEA), we always take the necessary measures to protect this data. This includes reliance on:

We aim to handle your complaint within four weeks of receipt. If the manner in which we have handled your complaint does not meet your expectations, you may contact the DPA. The DPA supervises compliance with privacy legislation and you may always submit a complaint to them.
